Well! It's been a while since I last posted anything. I've been busy with school and the loss of a camera, mainly the loss of a camera. But all is well now! I got a new body, same lenses, more gear, and a new toy! Some of you may not consider it a toy, more like an action figure, but I just see it as an expensive hand made toy. I'm a big fan of Batman and I could never get enough of the Dark Knight trilogy. After saving up some money I went ahead and bought this piece, and let me tell you, the attention to detail is pretty crazy! When everything was assembled and put in place, I literally just sat there and stared at everything for a few too many minutes. Anyways, check out the pics! It's been quite a while since I've made a post! This past weekend (if you count Friday as a week's...end) I was able to attend the LA Auto Show. This year I was a little more excited to go since most of the car companies were debuting their concepts along with their next year models. Starting off with the exotic cars, we were able to checkout how many expensive cars could be stuffed into a small little space which was kind of a bummer since the cars weren't evenly spaced out for pictures nor were you able to walk near them (blocked by a glass barrier). However we didn't pass up the opportunity to take a few pictures of the models or spokeswomen? One of the new things that some of the car companies were doing was that if you wanted to be near a certain car, you had to either be a serious buyer or someone looking into owning the car (sometimes worth over 1mill) otherwise the more common models can be viewed by the rest of us non billionaires. Little slideshow of Porsche because I just like Porsche..aside from Ford Checking out some of the concept cars, I really hope Mercedes goes through with theirs because it's just massively long! pun* but seriously, I had to do a pano because of the size of the car. Lexus also had one of their concepts up but people were more attracted to the LFA. Nissan also debuted their Nismo GTR which is "one of two in the world" according to their spokesman, and while Anthony was the no shame photographer during his speech, I managed to take a quick picture before he started.
The last time I visited Disneyland was about thirteen years ago while California Adventure was still under construction. I gotta say, since then, Disneyland has gone through some slight changes; either that or I just don't remember what it used to look like. This past weekend though, me and the girlfriend went to both parks for the last trip of our summer adventure (which was all filmed with the gopro....video coming soon!). Cali adventure was pretty cool ,despite the roller coaster being closed during the day -___- but in all honesty, I really wanted to go to Disneyland to check out the iron man exhibit. So...check off the list and take a look at the pics! check out the lifestyle page for more pics!
This past weekend, I was able to attend the annual Auto Gallery Car show in Huntington Beach. This show is unique because 1) it's at the beach 2) the cars in the show are actually pretty damn nice and 3) it's at the beach. Aside from the usual show cars, there was actually quite a few euro and exotic cars that were attendance. I was able to obtain media passes for a little crew to shoot video and photos, so I mainly focused on video and Anthony on photos This would be my second time attending the show however I think last year there was a bigger turn out for vendors compared to this year where there was a way bigger turn out for cars; either or, you could weigh out the pros and cons but it was still a good show nonetheless. The models attending the show were eye candy for most if not all the guys in attendance. The swim suit competition was pretty much an all out jaw dropping experience for the crowd and there was a twerking competition that was open to both guys and girls (I wasn't there for that). Be sure to watch in HD! Pretty good show! check out Anthony Hall's pg as well as the DIY facebook pg for more stuff! and be sure to look at the Autos pg for more pics, and the new videos pg for more....videos.
This past weekend I was given the opportunity to cover one of the biggest enthusiast car events, Subiefest. Given that it was an all Subaru event, there were a few evos, domestic muscle, some BMWs, and one troll GTR that literally non stop circled the entire event as if the event was planned for his car. Anyways, this was another eXtremespeed event which meant that there plenty of track time for all the subie owners as well as the non subaru drivers (although I'm not quite sure why they showed up to an event like this). There was also a autocross track which was pretty good considering the amount of drivers that went through it. When I was in high school, I always wanted a 2006 sti, the look of it was mean and I could never get over the sound of a boxer...magnified through an aftermarket exhaust, of course. Aside from the looks and sounds, it had a turbo! which was a big thing back in the day....next to vtec....I guess. Now that I've moved on and don't own a sti, I still have a little love for these cars and would probably consider getting one in the near future to use a little daily. The car show turn out was pretty good, even the cars that weren't in the show and parked in the normal parking lot was a car show on its own; it was also pretty cool seeing a mobile dyno at work. The vendor section was pretty cool from the amount of sponsored cars that were there. There were raffles for a lot of cool prizes, an exhaust competition, and free energy drinks...which was handy considering I forgot to bring water. From the carshow and vendor area, I was able to explore the pits and garages of the racers. It was pretty cool how each garage was set up to let you see how people prepared their cars for the track. Seeing crawford performance's impreza was a little spectacle all by itself as it turned a lot of heads every time it started and moved. Overall, another great car show brought to you by eXtremespeed. Being at events like these always are always a blast to go to because not only do you get to see specific brand/model cars all ppurtyd up, you also get to see the same cars in action on the track and see what they're capable of.
Be sure to checkout the recap video in HD and to take a look at eXtreme speed's website. Also, check out the autos and videos pg for more! and like us on facebook! This past week I was able to do some video with some friends and their pretty sick (nicely) modded cars. I'm starting to take video work seriously and am always thinking of ideas for future shoots, along with what I want the video to look like. With cars, I want the video to be a little narrative yet overall just showing off what the car is what it has. Anyways, so yet again, I brought my good friend Anthony Hall to take pictures; he's always looking to improve his photography/editing skills and I think that he'll be well on his way taking perfect pictures and creating beautiful edits with his dedications. We're always coming up with ideas for shoots so be on the look out for more collabs! Onto the pictures/video: First up is Kory's 350z, you don't see a lot of females driving modded cars, let alone with a manual transmission(no pun intended). If you're ever passing through the sgv 626 area and see this 350z riding on pink rims, be sure to give a thumbs up! For the most part, I wish I could've got more angles of the car but I think I did the best I could with the time I had to do the shoot. Be sure to watch in HD! The second car I was able to shoot was a clean (and I mean clean) wrx that belongs to a neighborhood friend, Jeff. I've been trying to set up a shoot with Jeff but things always went sideways and we always had to reschedule but the wait was totally worth it. Since the shoot's location was a parking structure, I had a few ideas I wanted to try out for future shoots. Again, be sure to watch in HD! All in all, always a great experience. As you can see from the pictures, Anthony has quite the amount of creativity and skill to do some automotive photography so go ahead and check out his facebook pg for more pics of his work, and support him as he is a professional athlete. A very big special thanks to Kory and Jeff for coming out and making the shoots possible. Kory and Jeff are both part of club626 so check out their facebook pg for more info (they have local meets!)
As always, check out the Autos as well as the new Video pg for more pics and the videos of past and upcoming events! and like us on facebook! ps if you'd like a video for your car or know anyone that would like a video of their car/shop/bike or anything they have in mind, please contact us! we're always open to new ideas and we'll work something out! This past weekend was the annual car enthusiast event known as Mazfest, an all day Mazda (only) gathering at Willow Springs Raceway in Lancaster. Track events are always exciting as I never know what to expect (although I kinda do), and it's always a blast to see people actually track their cars rather than drop loads of money on performance parts only to see nothing but side street......troll......anyways....the drive was pretty long but cool as I got to see the somewhat scenic? route of the Desert(s) of socal. Having never actually been to Willow Springs race way, I was actually surprised to see how simple the overall layout of the compound was and the amount of tracks that Willow actually has, although only one track was used for the event. There was a ride along part of the show which consisted of you riding shotgun with a pro driver and sponsor's car(s) or the one rx8 drift car; pretty cool, it was just too bad I didn't get the chance to try it out. Since I was near the track (like on the track), I figured I'd give photo-sequencing a try; it's not perfect and of course I'm gonna keep trying/practicing but I think it came out alright. There was a car show at the event however most of the cars that were in attendance and racing, were also part of the car show....which didn't bother me at all. There's a time and place for show cars, but honestly at an event such as this, I have no problem showing off enthusiast's cars. The over all car show did have a raffle with a lot of amazing prizes (one of them a set of Hankook tires)...yet, I managed to miss the raffle entirely..total brain fart on my part. Overall a great experience and I can't wait to do more track events such as these. A special thanks to my friend Anthony Hall for tagging along, and Extreme Speed Track events for having us at the event.
Be sure to like us on facebook and check out Anthony's pg for more pics! ALSO! check out Extreme Speed Track event's website for upcoming races, shows, and more...such as Subiefest 2013 at Auto Club Speedway. little ps...check out the Autos pg for more pics! This past weekend, I got together with a friend of mine who recently just bought his very own camera and wanted to expand his photography skills......as a photographer. (duh?!) I'm always in a mood to talk about photography whenever possible and for the past few weeks at work, him and I have been talking non stop about our photography; questions being asked and answered about certain functions of the camera, and ultimately, a photoshoot/teaching lesson with me showing him a basic walk through/flow of how I usually do my shoots with a flash. So the two bikes we had lined up for our shoot was a Ducati Desmoquattro 748s and a Yamaha R6. Both bikes had a pretty crazy color scheme which was pretty cool yet presented a challenge when using the flash. HOW SO?! one bike was dark, and the other was light, which means that we had to play around with different settings in order to get some good exposures. I'm used to shooting dark colored cars/bikes but no matter how many shoots I do, I always have to take a couple of test shots in order to dial in the perfect settings; maybe it's not the norm but everyone has their methods. I didn't take a lot of shots because this was mainly a show and tell shoot...or show and explain..either or. Our location for the night was a 2 car garage turned mini studio with some pretty basic yet cool tools. We both had ideas on certain shots and how each bike should look in each picture. The results of my shots are of course, this blog post. Special thanks to Anthony for setting up this shoot and who had the ingenious idea of using black paper as a back drop for the R6.
for more pics, check out the Autos pg and be sure to like us on Facebook. Also, check out Anthony Hall's facebook pg for some interesting shots This past week, I was able to have a shoot with a pair of Evo X's. The location was the usual DTLA spot (I think it's time to explore for more shoot locations). The DTLA location is starting to get pretty popular that all kinds of people are starting to have shoots there; we saw a photoshoot of DJ Khaled with his black Rolls Royce in the same spot that I was supposed to start my shoot in. Khaled's crew didn't want us near him or the shoot so the most we could do is look at them and their black tee's trying to act all hard around one guy........on to the shoot! Since Khaled was taking up the usual spot, I decided to take pictures all over the area, the bridge made for a perfect duo shot that I just couldn't let the opportunity pass by. The ever occurring problem with shooting at this location is that the sun is always in the background during the afternoon, so you're always shooting against the light rather than with it, and since I forgot to bring my wireless triggers for my speedlights, I had to put them on slave and shoot with my pop up flash to trigger them; kind of annoying but it did get the job done. A little bit about the owner: Bryan, who set up the shoot with me a while back, wanted to get some pictures of his daughter and his wife. I'm no portrait photographer but I'll never turn down a special request. Both of he evos are pretty sick (not to mention pretty damn loud) and I have to give props to the baby for being able to sit in the backseat. The shoot was pretty successful given the lighting conditions (harsh, no clouds). My team had a good time snapping pics and of course being able to see some sick cars. As we were leaving, Scion had just showed up to do a commercial shoot of one of their cars. I wasn't allowed to take pics but it was cool driving by their two vans carrying loads of equipment compared to my trunk filled with a tripod, reflector, a couple of speedlights, and a step stool.
be sure to spread the word and like us on facebook and check out the autos page for more pics! After waiting a whole year for this show to happen again, I could honestly say that in terms of cars, this show doesn't disappoint! I remember Autocon 2012 which was the first time AC was held at the Santa Anita race track in Arcadia, there was a ton of space but not so many cars (compared to 2013) but still overall a cool event. The only thing that I noticed this year was that there weren't a lot of clothing vendors...yeah yeah you go to CAR shows for the CARS...but hey.....can't be exclusive if everyone else is rockin the same tee! RIGHT?! right?!?!? anyways on to the pics. I find that Autocon is filled with more enthusiast looking cars rather than those all out show cars, and dont get me wrong, show cars are cool but some are just way overdone. I was also surprised to see a shelby cobra (or kit car o___O) at the show, be it kit or not it's still an awesome car. Food is always a cool addition to a show especially if there is 1) a variety of food that isn't 2) overpriced because it's only provided by the venue....sisig burrito because im filipino.
